NYCLU Amicus Curiae Brief: Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany v. Vullo

The NYCLU and ACLU filed an amicus brief in Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany v. Vullo at the New York Court of Appeals. In this case, the Diocese is challenging state regulations that require it provides abortion insurance coverage to its employees. This case could have massive consequences for future cases regarding religious burden, and could expand the types of laws that could be challenged. In the brief, we argue that under existing precedent, the state regulation for abortion insurance coverage still stands despite the Supreme Court’s Decision in Fulton v. Philadelphia.

As bold as the spirit of New York, we are the NYCLU.
